Vota Studio is a one level apartment and is right next to the today's central entrance of the village, at the bottom of one of the most particular and impressive arches of Mesta.
This spot of the village offers the Studio a great natural air conditioning, in summer time as well as in winter.
At Mesta 'vota' was called the ground floor part of the house which, because of its perfect natural air conditioning had stable temperature, and was mainly used as a storage area for agricultural products and food (wine, oil, mastic, suma etc.)
Householders in a typical house of Mesta, were living in the upper level. The ground level used to be separated in two spaces for each household. Half was used as a storage area and the other half for the domestic animals.
Passing through the central entrance of the village, right before the entrance of Vota Studio, on the left side a part of the defence trench of the castle still exists. This used to join the five Towers of Mesta, so the communication when in need of defence could be direct.
